Event Wrap-up
IL BREAKS 2005 was a success! About thirty crews showed up this year; Atlanta, Tennessee, Peoria, Indiana, Ohio, Chicago, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Beloit, Iowa, and more came out to rep. The DJs dropped heat all night long, keeping perfect pace with the dope battles and ciphers all night. Big-ups to the event judges Bravemonk, Wayneski, Juse Boogy, Alien Ness, and Steelo. And thanks to Zulu Gremlin for hosting!
The final battle was Ground Syndrome versus Street Symphony/Midwest Flava Kingz. Street Symphony/Midwest Flava Kingz won the battle and received $900 and the FIRST EVER IL BREAKS championship belt. Expect
pictures and an event trailer posted in the near future.
Right now we are in the process of editing an IL BREAKS DVD, email UCbboyclub@yahoo.com if you are interested.
Thanks to everyone that came out, see you next year.

The Jam is Tomorrow
If you want to have a good time this weekend, blackout Saturday because we've got you covered - IL Breaks 2005 is tomorrow. This jam promises to be one of the dopest Midwestern B-Boy events of the year. Doors open at 5 P.M. and the dancing shouldn't start too much later than that. If you plan to be spectating, great news because the competition is gonna be fierce. Over 20 crews have pre-registered for the eight open spots, and since last year about half the crews registered early and half didn't... Let's just say we are expecting a high turn out for a shot at the $900.00 cash prize.
Attention B-Boys: If your planning on dancing, get your crews registered BEFORE 5 PM. With b-boys coming from Chicago, St. Louis, Detriot, Ohio, Kansas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and more - things are going to be tight in terms of meeting the event schedule. As a personal recommendation, get to the jam and check-in by 4:30. Translation: we can't wait around for no-shows. No crew will be able to enter IL Breaks if they have not registered by 5 PM.

Updates Everywhere
Less than one week to go before IL Breaks 2005. Lots of stuff will be happening shortly in the CU area, and we've got a massive update for the site to tide you over...
What?!? Ya want more? Well, how about the fact that this coming Saturday will be the dopest Midwestern B-Boy event of the year.

Venue Footage/Hosts Update
First and foremost, we've got about a
10 MB clip of the venue. This year's event will be in the A,
B, and C rooms at the Illini Union. While that probably doesn't
mean much to those from out-of-town, peep the video. This is a
big ballroom with some nice hardwood floors. In fact, what you
can see in the video is only about two-thirds of the actual venue.
On a minor update, the hosts for the
event have been updated. Bravemonk will be one of the
judges, while hosting duties will be carried out by Champaign's
Ricky Ridikulous and Chicago's Ray One.

Teaser Switch
A bad news/good news update today. The bad news: due to
bandwidth considerations, the existing teaser has been
removed (at least until next month). For those curious, it turns
out that having a 100+ MB file up and open on the web is a great way
to increase your month web-hosting premiums.
The good news: we've got a replacement for those who did not
get to see the trailer. The generous folks over at
Detour
Productions have stepped-up and helped us out. Their site is
hosting a
~20 MB
WMV compressed clip of the finals (same battle, just compressed),
so all you battle junkies can still get your fix. To top it all off,
they even got a
nice page that allows for posting of comments with regards to
the video clip - nice. Much respect.
And I didn't forget about the video of the venue, that'll get
posted later this week (visualize Thursday).

DeeJay Biographies
Today's update is a bit more functional. Updated the
Event Info with the Venue information.
We got a nice big room with some sweet hardwood floors. Hopefully,
there'll be a video of our room posted in the next couple of days.
However, the big news for today is that, as
previously promised, the
biographies of both deejays have been
posted. Take a moment to glance over who we've got and I think
you'll be pleasantly surprised. That's right, read up and remember
this: "who loves you?"

Teaser Video
Seems like this leaked out a little early, but here is the official
release of the IL Breaks 2005 teaser.
And this just isn't any teaser mind you, but the final battle for the
2004 competition
- Brickheadz vs. Motion Disorders. Be forewarned that this is a rather
large file (~120 MB) as battle itself is about eleven minutes long.
Consequently, there is no guarantee as to how long this will remain on
the site due to bandwidth constraints. So get it while the gettin's
good.

Road Map
Time doesn't stand still and development on this site is a testament
to that. In addition to the hordes of back-end preparation that is
currently going on, the DJs for the event have been confirmed. Don't
want to give away any surprises, so keep checkin' back as over
the next few days the biographical information for these guys will
get posted.
For those who don't know, there was an IL Breaks competition last year.
The ingeniously named
IL Breaks 2004
took place a little over a year ago today and was a very dope battle. As a teaser for this year's upcoming event, a video clip of one of last year's battle will be posted for your viewing pleasure in the next few days. Hold tight.
March 1st, 2005
